It is no secret that the Middle East, especially the GCC countries are a very attractive market for the automobile, oil and construction industries. The growing consumption of commercial carscombined with large investments in infrastructureand gas and oil technologies make that region one of the fastest growing markets. Saudi Arabia or the UAE are just two examples of the growing number of countries seeing a huge rise in the automobile and construction sectors.

According to the Frost and Sullivan report, in Saudi Arabia the demand for vehicles(passenger and commercial cars) rose during 2012 and 2013 by 30% and 39.8% and is still witnessing a rapid growth with expected 8%-9% increase in vehicle imports by 2015. The UAE are in second place with a cumulative annual growth rate (CAGR) of cars and pick-ups estimated at 5.9% and trucks and buses expected to rise by 8.7% CAGR between 2012 and 2017. The total number of registered cars in GCC by 2017 is going to reach 16.4 million.

Such huge potential markets provide obvious opportunities for many automotive companies, both newcomers and those already established in the Middle East. However, the more promising the prospects are, the more competition grows. That’s why the necessity for properly localized products and marketing campaigns has become a crucial factor in outpacing the rivals and building a well-established brand image.
